My name is Christian and I'm a student on a BTEC level 3
computing and game design course. I plan on carrying on my studies at
university focusing on games design in order go on and make a career creating
games.
I originally wanted to get into the games industry because I
just loved playing games and made the mistake of thinking that it would be a
great way of making a living. I now know that in reality working in the game
industry it is more about the detail behind the game, building every aspect of
the finished image. Something that I learned was an even more exciting prospect
than just playing a finished product, having control over the world that you're
creating.
When it comes to playing games, before I would play a large
selection of games and doing so would take up almost all of my free time. Now
however I play fewer games maybe only one or two in a month but I still play
games everyday. I favour the fantasy RPG due to the escapism it provides as
well as the massive free roaming ability that is common in most modern RPG's.
During my life I have had a fair few different gaming
platforms and can honestly say that I have loved them all, even now regardless
of graphics. The platforms I have played include Sega Megadrive, Nintendo
Entertainment System (NES), GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, PC, Sony PlayStation,
Dreamcast, Nintendo GameCube, PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360.
My earliest gaming memory is kind of a blur. I can certainly
say it was one of two games, it was either Golden Axe for Sega or Super Mario
Bros for NES.
